BORN AGAIN

You have heard the Word of God and believe it.  You realize your sinful state and you want to be free of sin and be a part of God’s family. You have repented and you are about to confess Jesus.  You are ready to become a new creature, pure and clothed in Christ.  You must be baptized in order to accomplish this final step.

WHAT IS BAPTISM?

The meaning of baptism is to “dip,” “immerse,” or “wash” by plunging completely in water.  __”John was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water.”    John 3: 23.

WHAT DOES BAPTISM DO?

We are saved, washed, regenerated, justified, and become heirs. __”He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”  Mark 16:16 ; He (God) saved us, not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit,  which he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,  so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.” Titus 3: 5

We are now in Christ. We are buried, raised to walk in new life, and united in His resurrection. __“Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?  We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.  For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.” Romans 6: 3-5.

Since we are in Christ, we are sons of God, members of His family.  We put on Christ, and  are clothed in Him. __”For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.   For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Galatians 3: 26-27.

We are forgiven of our sins, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. __”And Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. “  Acts 2: 38.

We are in one body, the body of Christ.  __”For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body . . . 1 Cor. 12: 13.

We become born-again members of the kingdom of God. __”Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God . . . and  unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. ” John 3:  3, 5.

We are baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. __”. . . baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”  Matthew 28:  19.

We are put into contact with the blood of Jesus which cleanses us from all sin. __”For this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. “  Matthew 26: 28. “And the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1: 7

Because baptism does so much, it is impossible to think that one can be a Christian without being baptized!  Come now, and become a child of God!
